In June 2026, SANTOS Grills GmbH and eyefactive put an interactive touchscreen kiosk live in the large Barbecue World at the EDEKA Center Florapark in Magdeburg. On an iiyama UHD 49″ display running the eyefactive app ShoppingAssistant, customers browse the complete Santos range themselves, including technical specifications, explanations and prices. An integrated barcode scanner calls up product details in seconds. That makes the entire brand accessible at the point of sale and takes pressure off a small non-food team.
SANTOS Grills GmbH, a specialist for grills, barbecues and outdoor cooking accessories, partnered with eyefactive to bring an interactive touchscreen solution into the large Barbecue World at the EDEKA Center Florapark in Magdeburg. The store spans around 7,100 m² of retail space and carries roughly 60,000 products. The goal of the project: make the complete Santos range accessible directly at the point of sale, and take pressure off a limited non-food team.
In bricks-and-mortar retail, a brand's range is capped by shelf space. A large part of the Santos assortment is on display in the department, but nowhere near everything the brand offers. Grills are high-consideration products: customers want technical specifications, comparisons and prices before they decide. Traditionally, that information depends on a staff member being both available and fully trained – which, in a department with a small team, cannot be guaranteed at every hour of the day.
On 4 June 2026, the interactive touchscreen kiosk went live in the middle of the barbecue department: an iiyama UHD 49″ display running eyefactive's ShoppingAssistant app. Customers browse the complete Santos range themselves – every grill type, every accessory – including technical specifications, explanations and price information. An integrated product barcode scanner lets customers call up the details for any Santos product directly, turning a physical item on the shelf into a full digital product page in seconds.
The kiosk answers whenever no colleague is available, including outside the department manager's shift. Customers can also research in advance, so the personal consultation no longer starts with the basics but with the question that actually matters – and those follow-up questions are exactly the ones the team can then go into properly.
For the store, the biggest effect is capacity. While one colleague is in a sales conversation, the next customer is already browsing options instead of waiting. The team also uses the terminal for self-study to learn the range, and new colleagues can look up a detailed answer on the screen rather than guessing – which keeps them credible with customers from day one.
The commercial effect is an endless aisle: the department presents a range it never had the floor space to display, including accessories that were previously invisible to customers. Instead of describing an option, staff can show it on screen and point the customer to the product that actually fits – which shortens the path from interest to the right decision.
Powered by eyefactive's no-code touchscreen software platform, the solution is flexible, scalable and future-proof: content and product data can be updated without development work, and further apps or features can be added to the same installation. The project shows how interactive touchscreen kiosks extend a brand's range far beyond the physical shelf – and how retailers can serve more customers without adding staff.
If there's nobody around right away, customers can just use the touchscreen themselves and pull up all the information there is about these grills or the grill accessories. That doesn't just take pressure off our staff - it above all makes things easier for the customer while they shop.
